In short. Linesong has no account and never asks for your name, your email or your age. It does not track you across other apps and websites, and it has no adverts. To make the app better it sends a record of how it is used (which pages are opened, which drawings are begun and finished) to two analytics services, Firebase and PostHog, under a random identifier that is not linked to you.
Linesong is an app for iPhone and iPad made by Botto Studio ("we", "us"). This page says what the app collects, why, who else sees it, and what you can do about it. If anything here is unclear, write to [email protected].
What stays on your device
Which drawings you have finished, how far you got in one you left part done, the way of drawing you chose, your sound levels, and what you asked to leave out of the library are kept on your device. "Start again as new" in the app's settings forgets them, and deleting the app removes them. When some of them change (a drawing finished, a level set, a kind of creature left out) the app also notes it in the record of how it is used, below.
What the app sends, and why
The app sends a record of how it is used to Firebase Analytics, a service of Google, and to PostHog. We use it to see which parts of the app people use, where they stop, and whether something has gone wrong, so that we can make the app better. It is never used for advertising and never sold.
| What | For example |
|---|---|
| How the app is used | The pages opened; a drawing begun, finished, or a pack's drawings all finished; the way of drawing chosen; a sound level changed; "Start again as new"; how far through the first opening someone got. |
| Purchases | That the buying page was shown, that a purchase was begun, how it ended, and what was bought and for how much. We never see your payment details: Apple handles every payment. |
| About the device and the app | The model of device, the version of iOS and of the app, its language, and the country, worked out by the services from the internet address it connects from. |
| A random identifier | Made by each service for the copy of the app on your device, so that one visit can be told from the next. It is not your name, your Apple Account or your device's advertising identifier, and it is not linked to you. |
| Whether an Apple Ads campaign brought you | Once, when the app is first opened, it asks Apple whether it was installed from an Apple Ads campaign. If it was, Apple says which campaign, ad group and keyword, and that is kept with the record above. Apple does not say who you are. |
The app does not use your device's advertising identifier, does not ask to track you, and does not record your screen. It does not use your camera, microphone, photos, contacts or precise location.
Who else sees it
- Google, for Firebase Analytics. See Google's privacy policy and Firebase's privacy information.
- PostHog, for product analytics, on its cloud in the United States. See PostHog's privacy policy.
- Apple, which handles every purchase and download, delivers the app's pictures as you need them, and answers the question about Apple Ads. See Apple's privacy policy.
We do not sell or share what the app collects with anyone else. Both analytics services may store and work with it in the United States and elsewhere.
How long it is kept
We keep the record of how the app is used for no longer than 14 months, then it is deleted.
If you write to us
If you email us, we see your email address and what you write, and use them only to answer you. We delete the conversation when it is no longer needed.
Children
Linesong is for everyone. It asks no one for their age, name or contact details, and collects nothing that tells us who someone is. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, for example by email, write to us and we will delete it.
Your choices and rights
Because the record is kept under a random identifier and not under your name, we usually cannot tell which entries are yours. Deleting the app removes the identifier from your device, and a new one is made if you install it again. Wherever you live you can ask us what we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, by writing to [email protected]. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we rely on our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the app to collect the record described above, you may object to it, and you may complain to your data protection authority. If you are in California, we do not sell or share personal information as the California Consumer Privacy Act defines those words.
Changes
If what the app collects changes, we will change this page before the app does, and change the date at the top.
